When you get started: You can choose different ways to receive your Medicare coverage. Many people choose either Original Medicare and add a Medicare Supplement (to help pay for the gaps in Medicare coverage), or a Medicare Advantage Plan (like an HMO, PPO or PFFS). If you choose to join a Medicare Advantage Plan, also known as (Part C), the plan may include Medicare prescription drug coverage. If you choose Original Medicare and you want drug coverage, you can join a stand-alone Medicare Prescription Drug Plan, also known as (Part D). In most cases, if you don't make a choice, you will have Original Medicare only.
Each Year: Because Medicare coverage, your health or your finances may have changed, it is a good idea to review your plan every year. If you decide other coverage will better meet your needs, you can switch plans during certain times. We welcome and encourage this annual review to make sure you are getting the most value for your healthcare dollar. This level of service is more important now than at any other time.
